Roland Furman Alford
BISHOPVILLE- Funeral services for Mr. Roland Furman Alford of
Bishopville, formerly of Society Hill, were conducted at noon on Friday,
April 25, 2008, at Bethesda Baptist Church, Society Hill. The Rev. Holland,
pastor. Burial followed in the church cemetery, directed by Mitchell-Josey
Funeral Home Inc., Darlington.
Mr. Alford, 89, died Monday, April 21 at the residence after an illness.
He was born a deaf/mute in Society Hill, a son of the late Pauline Gandy
Alford and Robert Coleman Alford.
He attended the School for the Deaf and Blind of Cedar Springs, graduating
with honors, class of 1936.
At an early age, he joined Bethesda Baptist Church and later joined Emmanuel
Baptist Church, Hartsville.
Surviving are his sisters, Irene A. Williams, Florence A. Delk and Janie
A. Johnson, all of Bishopville; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Robert, Marion and Isaac Alford;
and a sister, Alice A. Bruce.
The family is receiving friends at the home of a sister, Florence Delk
of 816 Mansville St. Charles Road, Bishopville.
Lawrence
Lucas Larymore
DARLINGTON- Lawrence Lucas “Jack” Larymore, 67, of
Darlington died Friday, April 25, 2008.
Funeral services were held on Monday, April 28, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. in the
Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Philadelphia Southern
Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Larymore was born in Darlington County, son of the late Louie McKinley
and Rosa Lee Fuller Larymore. He was a former member of the Church of
God of Prophecy and a retired electrician. Mr. Larymore was an avid NASCAR
fan and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was predeceased by
one daughter, Tamara Lynn “Sissy” Larymore Perkins. Jack was
married to Bernice Gainey Larymore Nolan, the love of his life.
Survivors include one son, Lawrence L. “Lance” Larymore and
his wife, Angel, of Darlington; five grandchildren, Dylan R. Larymore,
Gavin L. Larymore, L. Andrew Perkins, Kaleb M. Perkins, and Grayson E.
Perkins; two sisters, Dorothy Jean Parker and Pam Smith, both of Hartsville;
a special nephew, Joseph M. “Joe” Atkinson; two special great
nephews, Melvin Joseph Atkinson, IV and McKinley J. Atkinson; and a special
friend, Myrdie Turner.
The family received friends at the funeral home on Sunday, April 27, 2008

Cornelius Lighty, Jr.
DARLINGTON- Graveside services for baby Jacoby Cornelius Lighty,
Jr. of Darlington were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 27, 2008, at
Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Darlington, directed
by Jordan Funeral Home of Darlington.
Survivors are his parents, Cierra and Jacoby Cornelius Lighty, Sr.; paternal
grandparents, Gloria F. Lighty, Leroy Lighty and Morris Swinton; maternal
grandmother, Stephanie McLaughlin; and other relatives.
The family is receiving friends at 417 Gumtree Drive, Darlington.
Kenneth
Alen Wingate
HARTSVILLE- Funeral services for Kenneth Alen Wingate were held
on April 23, 2008, at 4 p.m. at Second Baptist Church. Burial followed
in the St. John United Methodist Church Cemetery directed by Hines Funeral
Home, Inc. The Rev. J.D. Blue, the pastor of Second Baptist, officiated
the services.
Mr. Wingate was born Aug. 6, 1966, in Hartsville, a son of Mary English
Wingate and the late Wilbert Wingate. He was educated in the public schools
of Darlington County. He attended Butler High School and graduated from
Hartsville High School in 1984. He also attended Columbia Junior College
in Columbia, where he majored in motel administration.
Mr. Wingate was a member of Second Baptist Church where he served faithfully
in many capacities. He worked for a time at Cindy’s of Hartsville,
Good Time TV Rental and was currently employed at Pee Dee Mental Health.
He was a creative person who also coordinated weddings for family members
and friends.
He was loved by his family and served as the vice president of the Wingate
Family Reunion Committee, where he was a strong and dedicated leader.
Surviving to cherish the memory and carry on the legacy of Kenneth Alen
Wingate include his mother, Mary Louise Wingate of Hartsville; his sister,
Kimberly Veronica (Eric) Green of Hartsville; two nieces, Shakeria Hunter
and Keonna Green, both of Hartsville; his aunts, Teezee Brown, Alice Wingate,
Sarah Wingate and Carrie Wingate, all of Hartsville, and Rolenia (James)
Patterson of Darlington; his uncles, Leroy (Vanessa Addison) Wingate of
Hartsville, Albert (Martha) Wingate of Florence and Ronnie (Christine)
English of Society Hill; two godchildren, Fernaryai Peterson and Carrington
Ruffin; many other relatives and very dear friends.

Rembert
HARTSVILLE- Laura A. Rembert of 712 Azalea Circle died on Friday,
April 25, 2008 at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center after an illness.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Hines
Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the residence.
Neil
Howell Windham, Jr.
LAMAR- Neil Howell Windham, Jr., age 49, died Wednesday, April
30, 2008. Funeral services were held in Newman Swamp Methodist Church
at 4:00 on Friday, May 2. Burial followed in Windhamtown Cemetery, directed
by Belk Funeral Home of Lamar.
Born in Florence, he was the son of Faye Byrd (Thomas Perkins) Windham
and Neil (Sylvia) Windham, Sr. He had retired from NUCOR and also
worked with Frasier Industrial. Mr. Windham was a member of USC
Roundhouse Club for 28 years, was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed fishing.
Neil enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and was known throughout
the community as “The Mayor of Windhamtown”. Mr. Windham
was a member of Newman Swamp Methodist Church.
Surviving in addition to his mother and father are his wife of 29 years,
Terie Dampier Windham; a son, Neil H. “Trey” Windham, III
of the home; two daughters, Stephanie (Rock) Parnell of Lamar, Abbey (Allen)
Baker of Hartsville; a grandson, Wyatt “Hoss” Parnell; two
granddaughters: Kinsley “Twinkle” Baker, Kylar “Starr”
Parnell; a sister, Brenda (Michael) Lee of Darlington; grandparents, Nettie
and Don Arrants; a half brother, Ervin Windham of Lamar; a step-sister,
Celeste Shady of Lamar; many loved nieces and nephews; all his good friends
at the “Palace Club”; and his dogs, Chico and Dixie.
The family received friends from 6-8 Thursday at Belk Funeral Home in
Lamar and other times at 955 Windhamtown Rd., Lamar.

Heyward Atkinson
HARTSVILLE- Funeral services for James Heyward Atkinson, 66,
were held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2008 at New Providence Baptist
Church. Burial took place in the church cemetery. The Revs. Buddy Amerson
and Rick Schubert officiated and Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home
served the family. The family received friends following the service.

Mr. Atkinson died Tuesday, April 29, 2008. Born in Darlington Co., SC,
he was a son of the late Joe and Rosie Beasley Atkinson. He was a member
of New Providence Baptist Church. He was a special brother, friend
to all, greatly loved by all of his nieces and nephews.
Surviving are his sisters and brothers-in-law, Lucille W. and James Griggs
of Hartsville, SC, Myrtle Gainey of Bishopville, SC, Janie and Perry Brock
of Chesterfield, SC; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe (Jay) and Shirley
Atkinson of Hartsville, SC, William L. (Doc) and Pat Atkinson of Hartsville,
SC, Rufus Atkinson and Jackie Johnson of Hartsville, SC; special friend,
Dot Johnson of Hartsville, SC. He was preceded in death by his sister,
Lena Mae Dixon.

N. Love
TATUM, SC- Funeral services for Kimberly N. Love, 47, were held at 3 p.m.
Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at the First Church of Nazarene. Burial followed
in Rogers Cemetery.
She died April 27, 2008 at her home.
Born in Scotland County, SC, she was the daughter of Margaret Allen Love
and the late Lonnie “Buggs” Love. She was a graduate of the
University of South Carolina and worked for the NC Department of Health
& Human Services in Richmond County.
She is survived by her mother, Margaret A. Love of Tatum, SC; and a brother,
Kenneth A. Love of Darlington, SC.
The family received friends Tuesday night, April 29, 2008 at the First
Church of the Nazarene from 6 to 8 p.m.

Robert
Lee Wallace, Sr.
DARLINGTON- Robert “Bobby” Lee Wallace, Sr., age
66, of Darlington died Saturday, May 3, 2008. A graveside service
was held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 5 in Westview Cemetery, Hartsville,
directed by Belk Funeral Home.
Born in Darlington, he was the only child of the late Oscar Lee Wallace
and the late Evelyn Register Wallace. Bobby worked as an electrician
for Dixie Cup for many years and had retired as owner and operator of
Wallace Gulf and Grocery in 2004. Mr. Wallace was currently serving
on the Board of Directors at Dixie Federal Credit Union, a position that
he enjoyed very much. He was an amateur radio operator (WB4VYA),
enjoyed racing, and loved his family, especially his wonderful grandchildren.
Mr. Wallace was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Hartsville.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Byrd Wallace; a son, Robert “Robby”
L. (Sheila) Wallace, Jr. of Charlotte; a daughter, Terry W. (Denzil) Diggs
of Hartsville; grandchildren, Carmen Wallace, Caroline Wallace, Madison
Diggs, Payton Diggs; a host of family and friends; and Cherri Brown, who
was like a daughter to Bobby.
Visitation took place from 5-7 Sunday evening at Belk Funeral Home.

Ann Robinson Rembert
HARTSVILLE- Funeral services for Laura Ann Robinson Rembert were
held on Thursday, May 1, 2008, at 4 p.m. at Second Baptist Church. The
burial followd in Greenlawn Cemetery directed by Hines Funeral Home, Inc.
The Rev. J. D. Blue, the pastor of Second Baptist, officiated the services.
Mrs. Rembert was born on Sept. 18, 1964, in Hartsville, the daughter of
the late Waldell Robinson and Marie Brunson Pogue. She was educated in
the public schools of Darlington County and attended Butler High School.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and watching the
“Bold & the Beautiful.” She also loved watching her grandchildren
open their gifts on Christmas Day. Family was extremely important to her,
and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
During her illness, she became more spiritually focused and spent her
time praying and talking about God. One of her brothers, Robert Pogue,
preceded her in death.
Accepting the lost, trusting in God, and cherishing profound and everlasting
memories of Laura Ann Rembert include her two daughters, Maria (Clifton)
Davis Robinson and Laurice (Richard Bristow) Rembert, both of Hartsville;
three sisters, Hattie (Robert) Dargan, Annie (Joe Dunham) Pogue and Teresa
(Andy Tedder) Peterson; two brothers, Paul Pogue and Moses Allen (Jessica),
both of Hartsville; a very close friend, Larry Jones; six grandchildren,
Devon Rembert, Isaiah Davis, Kentrail Davis, Lajareon Foman, Kameron Foman,
and Will Tavius Bristow; many other relatives and very dear friends.

Yvette Wilson
HARTSVILLE- Funeral services for Nata Yvette Wilson were held
at 3 p.m. on May 2, 2008, at Kay Branch Missionary Baptist Church. Burial
followed the services in the church cemetery directed by Young & Young
Funeral Home of Hartsville.
Ms. Wilson, 38, died Sunday, April 27, at McLeod Hospice House after an
illness.
She was born in Darlington County, a daughter of Tommy Wilson and Eloise
Wilson. She received her education in the public schools in the area and
graduated from Hartsville Senior High School with the class of 1988. She
was also a member of Kay Branch Missionary Baptist Church.
Surviving other than her mother, Eloise Wilson of Hartsville, and father,
Tommy Wilson of Hartsville, are four sisters, Martha Ann Williams of Columbia,
Angela (Donnie) Hough and Shera Wilson, both of Hartsville, and Fran (Darryl)
Kennedy of Fort Mill; four nieces, Tina Williams, Mekesha (Christopher)
Shaw and Shoshonna Boseman, all of Hartsville, and Christian (Heyward)
Goodson of Columbia; five nephews, Albert Williams of Columbia, Thomas
Wilson and Terrell Addison, both of Fort Mill, Kelvin Hough and Donnie
(Lavette) Hough Jr., both of Hartsville; a special friend, Dewayne Dolford
of Hartsville; a host of aunts, uncles, and other close relatives and
friends.
