Rose Ann Blackmon
CONWAY- Rose Ann Blackmon, age 51, formerly of Darlington passed into eternal rest Saturday October 25, 2008 after a long illness at the home of her parents in Conway.
Ms. Blackmon was born in Darlington County, daughter of the late Bill and Lois Byrd and was the daughter of Dick and Mary Lou Blackmon. She was a graduate of St. John’s High School and Florence General School of Practical Nursing. She served her country with distinction and honor for 13 years with the United States Navy, serving as U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman and rising to the rank of Chief before returning to Darlington to raise her son. Ms. Blackmon held various nursing positions with Wilson Group in Darlington and was nursing home administrator for Medford Place. During her time as administrator of Medford, she served on various committees and the Board of Directors of SC Healthcare Association. She was also outreach coordinator for Regency LTEC, Florence. 
Rose Ann was very proud of being a nurse and serving her country in the Navy. Throughout her life, she touched many lives with caring and compassion. She was always ready to reach out to help someone in need. She considered her son her greatest accomplishment.
Surviving in addition to her parents of Conway, are her son, Joseph Blackmon-Dishaw, freshman at Clemson University; brothers, Rick and his wife, Lemichele Blackmon of Darlington and Billy and his wife, Stephanie of Aynor; nieces Lindsey and Abigail Blackmon and nephew, Will Blackmon; also, several cousins.
The family received friends and family 2-4 p.m. Tuesday, October 28, at Belk Funeral Home, Darlington and othe times at the home of her parents, 7211 Old Reaves Ferry Road, Conway, S.C.

Jackie Combess
DARLINGTON- Jackie Sullivan Combess, 75, died Tuesday, October 21, 2008. A graveside service was held in Grove Hill Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2008, directed by Belk Funeral Home.
Born May 4, 1933 in Lancaster, S.C., she was a daughter of the late William Curtis Sullivan and the late Osie Lee Carnes Sullivan. She was a housewife and member of Epworth United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two sisters, Patricia (Ervin) Jackson, Judy (Leon) Stokes all of Darlington; two brothers, Ricky Sullivan of Greenville, Michael (Lori) Sullivan of Florence; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Walter Cox, Sr.
Walter L. Cox, Sr., 69, died October 21, 2008 in a local hospital. A memorial service was held at 3:00 October 24 in Dovesville Church of God.
Born in Florence County, he was a son of the late Ollie and Nettie Sports Cox. Walter served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
Surviving are his children, Walter, Michael, Keith, Walter Jr., Wesley, Debbie Harrison and Crystal Blackmon. Also, sisters Elouise Stidham, Shirley O’Dell and Dorothy Chichester.

Iris Jordan
DARLINGTON - Iris Watson Jordan, age 80, died Sunday, October 26, 2008 in a Florence hospital. Funeral services were held Tuesday 2:00 p.m., October 28 at Philadelphia Southern Methodist Church with interment following in Pine Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery directed by Belk Funeral Home.
Mrs. Jordan was born in Lee County, daughter of the late Sullivan and Estelle Watson. She was married to the late Thadis Houck “T.H” Jordan. She was a housewife who enjoyed the fellowship of her family and friends and enjoyed going to church. She was a member of Philadelphia Southern Methodist Church.
Surviving are her son, Tim (Renee) Jordan of Darlington; her daughter, Pam Privette (Craig Stokes) of Darlington; five grandchildren, Emily Jordan, Ryan Jordan, Anthony Privette, Michael Privette, and Chely Stokes; a niece and nephews, including a special nephew, Brian (Rita) Jordan; and special friends, Helen Tickell and Emma Stokes.
The family received friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Patricia Buie
FLORENCE - Patricia Hall Buie, age 61, died Monday, October 27, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. October 29 in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home, Lamar officiated by Rev. William Taylor. The family received friends at the home, 301 E. Hughes Circle, Florence, from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home in Lamar. Interment will be in Lamar Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Buie was born in Darlington County, daughter of the late Cecil and Harriett Andrews Hall. She was a housewife and was of the Holiness faith.
Surviving are her husband of 43 years, Robert Buie of Florence; three sons, Jimmy (Kim) Buie, Brad (Linda) Buie and David Stephens all of Florence; one daughter, Nikie Buie of Florence; five grandchildren, Derrick, Jeremy, Pearce, Kayla and Jamie; also, one sister, Blostine Humphries of Lamar. 
Mrs. Buie was preceded in death by a son, Gregg Buie and her sister, Kathy Lane.

Peggy Funderburke
With the Love of family and the Peace that only our heavenly Father can give, Peggy Jean Hunt Funderburke, 73, left the pains of this world to go to be with her Savior on October 19, 2008.
Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at Florence National Cemetery. The Rev. Randy Gulledge officiated and Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home was in charge.  The family received friends Tuesday, October 21, 2008 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
Mrs. Funderburke was born in Chesterfield County, S.C., a daughter of the late Hillard Belk and Bertie McLaurin Hunt.  She spent her childhood between Charleston and “Hunts Mill” before her family moved to Hartsville. She was very active in Emmanuel Baptist Church and Faith Baptist Church. She taught preschool and kindergarten before becoming a home health care provider. She will be greatly missed.  
Surviving are Ronnie E. Funderburke of Hartsville, S.C., her husband and constant source of strength and support, along with her children; sons and daughters-in-law, Ed and Rebecca Rogers Funderburke of Southport, N.C., Dale and Debbie Hancock Funderburke of Hartsville, S.C.; daughter and son-in-law, Faith and J. R. Fowler of Panama City, Fla.; sisters and brother-in-law, Betty Lou Northcutt of Hartsville, S.C., Nina Ruth and Hugh Null of Houston, Tex.; brother and sister-in-law, H. B. and Pearl Hunt of Hartsville, S.C.; grandchildren, Ron Funderburke, Hank Funderburke, Hannah Funderburke, Nicki Thompson, Charla Funderburke, Bruce Funderburke; great-grandchildren, Burke Funderburke, Gabe Funderburke, Kyle Blackwell, Hunter Blackwell. She was predeceased by a grandson, T. J. Thompson who died in 2006.

Juanita Green
Funeral services for Juanita Mary Green, 66, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 30, 2008 at Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Dr. Gary Colboch  and John Hamilton will officiate with burial in Darlington Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends Thursday, October 30, 2008 from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Green died Saturday, October 25, 2008.  Born in Erie, Pa., she was a daughter of Harry T. East and Betty Jane Kenney. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.  She retired from Harris Teeter after 22 years of service. She was a very caring and loving person who loved her kids and her country. 
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Conley E. and Teresa Green of Concord, N.C.; daughter and son-in-law, B. J. and Steve Carson of Longmont, Colo.; sister, Arlene Hefren of Erie, Pa.; aunt, Ramona Marcum of Columbia, S.C.; grandchildren, Sunshine Green of Longmont, Colo., Robert Green of Charlotte, N.C., Chris Green of Charlotte, N.C., Jessica Nelson Howell, Kimberly Nelson, Leslie Nelson all of N.C.; great-grandchild, McKenzie Lynn Howell.

Lillian Huggins
Funeral services for Lillian Johnson Huggins, 77, were held Tuesday, October 28 at 4 p.m. at Cedar Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Huggins, widow of John F. “Bunk” Huggins, died Saturday, October 25, 2008.  Born in Chesterfield Co., SC, she was a daughter of the late Howard E. and Eunice Ammons Johnson. She was graduated from McBee High School and attended Columbia College.  She was retired in 1972 from Hartsville Manufacturing and continued to be very active in her community and her church where she held several positions and was Mother of the Year, 1984. 
Surviving are her sons and daughter-in-law, John R. and Janice Huggins of Hartsville, S.C., James L. “Jim” Huggins of Hartsville, S.C.; daughters and son-in-law, Virginia Howle of Hartsville, S.C., Christine and Ronnie Hicks of Hartsville, S.C.; brother and sister-in-law, William H. “Bill” and Myrtle Johnson of Florence, S.C.; grandchildren, Jay Lee, Trina O’Neal, Brian Lee, Jody Huggins, Andy Catoe, Chrissy Heustess, Jennifer Huggins, Stephanie Catoe; great grandchildren, Carol King, Jay Lee, Jr., Mitchell Heustess, John Mitchell Brunson, Brandon Lee, Zachary Deason, Noel Heustess, Tristan Lee, Savanna Deason, Allen Brunson, McKayla Lee, McKenna Lee.

Gerald C. Kelley, Sr.
Funeral services for Gerald Clifton Kelley, Sr., 79, were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 24, 2008 at Prospect United Methodist Church. The Rev. Mr. Kelley died Tuesday, October 21, 2008. Born in Darlington Co., S.C., he was a son of the late Vander Burdeen and Hannah Gainey Kelley. He was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church where he served as the church treasurer for many years. He was retired from Sonoco after 41 years of service and served his country in the U.S. Navy.  He was a loving, caring father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, bee keeping, and gardening 
Surviving are his wife, Mary Ruth Kelley of Hartsville, S.C.; son, Gerald Clifton “Clift” Kelly, II and Guy Ranney of St. Louis, Mo.; daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah K. and Glynn Huggins of Hartsville, S.C., Kris and Mark Deremo of Florence, S.C.; sisters and brother-in-law, Corrine and Otis Hancock of Darlington, S.C., Juanita Robinson of Camden, S.C.; brother and sister-in-law, Marvin A. and Aline Kelly of Hartsville, S.C.; grandchildren, Kelly Pridgeon, Thomas Huggins, Haley Ruth Deremo, McKenzie Deremo; great-grandchildren, Kelsey Pridgeon, Trey Pridgeon. Woody Mahn
Funeral services for James Sherwood “Woody” Mahn, 56, were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home Chapel and Rev. Mr. Mahn died Monday, October 20, 2008.  Born in Florence Co., S.C., he was a son of Zelda Mozingo Mahn and the late Billy S. Mahn.  
Surviving are his wife, Kelly Mahn of Conway, S.C.; mother, of Conway, S.C.; sister, Dawn O’Brien of Edgewood, Tex.; stepsons, Michael Willis of Conway, S.C., Matthew Willis of Darlington, S.C.; nephews, Jason Spivey, Billy O’Brien, Kevin O’Brien. He was preceded in death by his son, James Garrett Mahn.
